Smoked Salmon Benedict

Photobucket

I had the worst start to the day today with a series of unfortunate events I shall not delve into.

So I had a nice, quiet brunch (above) later with a no one but a book at Liar Liar.

Self-prescribed solitude is sometimes necessary, I reckon, especially on a beautiful day like today. The sun was out in its full glory, cooled only by the light South Westerly breeze. And it lingered all the way till sundown!
A nice walk in the park.
A coffee and Readings.
A pair of jeans from Fat.

I think the day just saved me.
Thanks, God.

How time flies

Photobucket

I met this couple once not too long ago (or so I thought).
The next time I met them again, they were married and had Asher (above).

Lately, time has been skipping by the beat. I feel as if I black out in between steps and when I open my eyes again, I wake up to a different surrounding. How much I'd miss along the way, I can only wish I didn't.

I think I'm missing out on a lot of things happening around me.
I'm not sure why.
But I miss that life.

b-sides

Photobucket

I'm starting a "b-sides" album, starting with Peggen + Hau Wei's so-called engagement shots. Their shots must be one of my all-time favourite albums as I keep going back to it. Not because I'm proud of my shots (which, I am), but simply because of the experience and the fun we had that day which I can't help but smile to each time I think of them.

What a delightful couple!
Only 82 days left to go!

Oysters!

Photobucket

Freshly picked, and literally sweat and bled for.

A few of us spent the weekend at Hobart three weeks back. Originally intended for Shaun's graduation, our (sincere) plans were immediately thwarted as soon as we purchased our air tickets, as Shaun's ceremony date was suddenly changed to the day before we arrived. With no other purpose left to serve, we (relunctantly) decided to just spend the weekend relaxing and touring the small, beautiful island of Tasmania instead.

On the first evening itself, we ferried our way across to Bruny Island where the air was fresher than the already fresh Hobart and civilization was scarcer than the already scarce Hobart. Here, armed with a chisel and hammer, we picked fresh oysters off the edge of the sea.

Hui Li fell into an unfortunate accident when an octopus about the size of a basketball (in camouflage mode) caught her by surprise, swept across her feet and caused her to slip and fall. She caught a nasty cut on the sole of her left foot as a result, and the rest of the night was spent in the Royal Hobart Hospital.

As unfortunate as it was, it gave us a break all Sunday the next day as we stayed in and I nursed her needs. I managed to take a short walk down the neighbouring streets where Shaun lives and I see the appeal that is Hobart.

It quite simply is beautiful.
Serene, old, quiet, friendly. And beautiful.

It was a short (and in some ways long) weekend and was definitely not enough.
It would be good to head back down there some time again when the weather gets better.

Till then.

A Family Affair

It felt strange, for some reason, when I was asked to take photos for Kevin & Hui Yi's reception. I didn't quite know how to react, act, and direct. For the first time, I was on my own.

And boy, was I afraid.
I may have done an alright job covering that up, but inside, I was frantic. This wasn't a "client". This wasn't on Jon's plate where I would be happy to oblige to. This was mine. And this was a family affair.

I was afraid.

The Greatness

Photobucket

Took a trip down the Great Ocean Road all the way till Loch Ard Gorge (just a two minutes drive after the Twelve Apostles) and I'm reminded of the great outdoors this land has to offer. It's been a while since air was as fresh and the silence from the bustling city blocks permeated through the leaves.

I'm in love with Australia again.

Peggen + Hau Wei

Photobucket

It was more of impulsive than anything, but we decided just a day before that we would take a drive down to the Peninsular and take some shots along the rocks.

Ant composed most shots while I snapped all these with a 35mm 1.4 (cue drool) not mine (cue tears).
What a delight the couple was!
